No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Granada (8-5) edged at home 9th ranked Picken Claret (6-8) 49-46 on Saturday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Granada outrebounded Picken Claret 45-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. Trinidad and Tobago-Vincentian center Verdine Warner (194-92, college: Shaw) scored 8 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Nici Gilday (175-92, college: Santa Clara) chipped in 17 points during the contest. Granada's coach Maribel Pinar used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Clara Che (173-97, college: Providence) responded with 17 points and Paula Rodrigo (-0) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. Granada have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with Alcobendas. Loser Picken Claret keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Granada will face Paterna (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Picken Claret will play against Almeria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
