Regular Season Round 15: Gomel - Brest 79-93

Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Brest (4-9) beat on the road 10th ranked Gomel (2-11) 93-79 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-79. Brest forced 21 Gomel turnovers. Strangely Gomel outrebounded Brest 52-39 including 37 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for guard Anton Shchurko (188-97) who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Konstantin Solyshko (196-96) helped adding 23 points and 11 rebounds. The best for the losing side was swingman Yegor Dudov (192-98) with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Timofey Verevkin (187-93) scored 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gomel's coach Andrey Chvankov rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Brest maintains seventh place with 4-9 record. Loser Gomel keeps the tenth position with 11 games lost. Brest will face RGUOR (#9) in Minsk in the next round. Gomel will play on the road against Borisfen in Mogilev and hope to win that game.
