Regular Season Round 15: Sassari - San Martino 69-74

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Sassari (3-10) was defeated at home by eighth ranked San Martino (7-7) 74-69. It was an exceptional evening for Lithuanian Egle Sulciute (190-85) who led the winners and scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). American guard Jolene Anderson (173-86, college: Wisconsin) accounted for 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. American guard Kennedy Burke (185-97, college: UCLA, agency: Wasserman) came up with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Sierra Calhoun (183-96, college: Rutgers, agency: Wasserman) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Sassari in the defeat. Four Sassari players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for San Martino. They moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted Sassari keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. San Martino's next round opponent will be higher ranked Sesto SG (#6) in Sesto San Giovanni and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sassari will play at home against Ragusa (#4) and hope to win that game.
