Regular Season Round 6: Vigevano - Varese 67-46

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Varese (2-4) was outleveled on the road by top-ranked Vigevano (6-0) 67-46 on Sunday. Vigevano held Varese to an opponent 23.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.2 percent accuracy of the winners. It was a good game for point guard Filippo Rossi (193-97) who led his team to a victory with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Fabio Bugatti (199-98, agency: SLN) contributed with 9 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Vigevano's coach Paolo Piazza felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Russian center Ilia Boev (210-1) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and guard Andrea Calzavara (186-1) added 14 points in the effort for Varese. Vigevano have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position in B with 6-0 record. Loser Varese dropped to the ninth place with four games lost. Vigevano will face Cremona (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Varese will play against Pavia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
