Regular Season Round 12: Casale - Piacenza 76-82

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Piacenza (5-4) won against on the road 6th ranked Casale (5-4) 82-76 on Sunday. It was a good game for American forward Markis McDuffie (203-97, college: Wichita St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. Point guard Federico Massone (191-98) contributed with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Piacenza's coach Stefano Salieri used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Sam Thompson (200-92, college: Ohio St., agency: Pensack Sports) replied with 25 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized Senegalese center Gora Camara (214-1) added 14 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Casale. Four Casale players scored in double figures. Piacenza moved-up to sixth place in A2. Piacenza will face Mantova (#9) in Mirandola in the next round. Casale will play on the road against the league's leader Tortona and hope to win that game.
