Very expected game when 13th ranked SAzzurra RO (1-8) lost to eighth ranked Pistoia (4-5) in Roma 72-80 on Sunday. Pistoia made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Pistoia outrebounded SAzzurra RO 42-30 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American swingman TreShaun Fletcher (202-94, college: Toledo) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import forward DeShawn Sims (203-88, college: Michigan) contributed with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Puerto Rican-American guard Stephen Thompson-Jr (194-97, college: Oregon St.) replied with 33 points (!!!) and Cameroonian center Kevin Ndzie (211-3) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for SAzzurra RO. SAzzurra RO's coach Germano D'Arcangeli tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Pistoia moved-up to sixth place in A2. Newly promoted SAzzurra RO keeps the thirteenth position with eight games lost. Pistoia will face league's second-placed Ferrara at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. SAzzurra RO will play against San Severo (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
