Regular Season Round 13: Olimpia - Victoria 79-71

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Grodno: Olimpia (#3) and Victoria (#7). Olimpia (9-4) won against visiting Victoria (3-10) 79-71. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Victoria won fourth quarter 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olimpia made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 26 Victoria turnovers. Forward Katsiaryna Karpuk (185-99) nailed 19 points and 5 steals (made all of her eight free throws) for the winning side and forward Nadzeya Nadzezhka (183-87) accounted for 8 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Anastasia Feklistova (178-2) came up with 20 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Evgenia Bernatskaya (170-5) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Victoria in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olimpia maintains third place with 9-4 record having four points less than leader Gorizont. Victoria lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with ten games lost. Olimpia will meet bottom-ranked Gomel (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Victoria will play against BDU Tsmoki in Minsk and hope to secure a win.
