Regular Season Round 27: Prievidza - Nova Ves 84-86

Sixth-ranked Prievidza (7-11) gave a tough game to first ranked Nova Ves (15-8) on Wednesday. The visitors from Nova Ves managed to secure only two-point victory 86-84. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Prievidza. Nova Ves dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Prievidza's 22. It was a great shooting night for Nova Ves especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. It was a great evening for Serbian forward Marko Stevanovic (203-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. Serbian Milan Nikolic (200-92) helped adding 21 points and 6 rebounds. Four Nova Ves players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Slovenian guard Miha Vasl (192-92) with 26 points and American forward Grant Sitton (206-93, college: Victoria) scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. Nova Ves have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-8 record. Prievidza at the other side keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Nova Ves will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Prievidza will play on the road against Inter Bratislava (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
