There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Verona (4-5) edged on the road 9th ranked Milano (5-5) 75-72 on Wednesday. The former international power forward Francesco Candussi (211-94) stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners and American point guard Phil Greene IV (188-92, college: St.John's, agency: Higher Vision Sports) chipped in 19 points. Four Verona players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Wayne Langston (201-93, college: Murray St., agency: Alti Sport) responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import Nikolas Raivio (193-86, college: Portland, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Verona. They moved-up to ninth place. Loser Milano dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Verona will face higher ranked Casale (#8) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
