Regular Season Round 15: Lyon - Villeneuve 85-68

The game between third ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (6-4) and fifth ranked Lyon (6-3) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Villeneuve D'Ascq was defeated by Lyon in Lyon 85-68. They made 26-of-28 free shots (92.9 percent) during the game, while Villeneuve D'Ascq only scored nine points from the stripe. Lyon forced 19 Villeneuve D'Ascq turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Lyon especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Lisa Berkani (176-97) with 17 points and 4 assists and American forward Haley Peters (190-92, college: Duke) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Villeneuve D'Ascq at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Bretagne. Lyon are looking forward to face league's second-placed Basket Landes in Mont de Marsan in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Villeneuve D'Ascq will play at home against Gazelles and is hoping to win this game.
