The game between closely ranked teams ended with twelfth ranked Promete's (7-12) home victory over 13th ranked Gran Canaria (5-15) 73-66 on Friday. The best player for the winners was Senegalese center Maimouna Diarra (198-91) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Point guard Laia Flores (171-96, college: S.Florida) chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Mali power forward Sika Kone (190-2) who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds and American center Kai James (196-95, college: FSU) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Promete moved-up to eleventh place. Newly promoted Gran Canaria keeps the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Promete are looking forward to face Zaragoza (#12) on the road in the next round. Gran Canaria will play against Al-Qazeres and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
