Regular Season Round 9: Le Portel - Nanterre 82-71

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Le Portel (4-3) beat at home 8th ranked Nanterre (3-3) 82-71 on Saturday. Le Portel shot 27 for 41 from the free-throw line, while Nanterre only scored eight points from the stripe. Le Portel had a 26-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Nanterre was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Algerian guard Nadir Hifi (184-2) who led his team to a victory with 33 points (!!!). Guard Theo Magrit (189-1) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 assists for the winners. Jules Bravin (202-1) answered with 21 points and power forward Samuel Eyango-Dingo (207-1) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Nanterre. Nanterre's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Le Portel moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Gravelines. Loser Nanterre dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Le Portel will face bottom-ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (#18) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Nanterre will play against the league's second-placed Cholet (#2) and hope to win that game.
