Regular Season Round 13: Rennes - Toulouse 78-81

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Union Rennes (3-5) was edged at home by fourth ranked Toulouse (6-3) 81-78 on Saturday. Toulouse forced 19 Union Rennes turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. Quite impressive performance for naturalized Algerian point guard Faycal Sahraoui (188-79) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Naturalized Guyanese Mike Joseph (203-94) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Canadian-Lebanese guard Joseph Chartouny (190-94, college: Marquette) answered with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and naturalized Chadian forward Mael Lebrun (193-91) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Union Rennes. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Toulouse. They moved-up to second place in Group A. Newly promoted Union Rennes keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Toulouse will face Vendee Challans (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Union Rennes will play against La Rochelle and hope to win that game.
