Regular Season Round 16: Battipaglia - Broni 63-71
Date: January 17, 2021
Bottom-ranked Battipaglia is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 13th consecutive match to tenth ranked Broni (5-9) 71-63. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Sara Madera (187-0) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 5 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) and swingman Marida Orazzo (174-94, agency: LBM Management) who added 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Broni's coach Alessandro Fontana allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American guard Amber Melgoza (178, college: Washington) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and her fellow American import Danielle McCray (186-87, college: Kansas) scored 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Battipaglia players scored in double figures. Broni moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Campobasso. Battipaglia at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Broni will play against league's leader Venezia at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Battipaglia will play against Sesto SG (#5) in Sesto San Giovanni and hopes to get finally their first victory.
