Regular Season Round 15: Almeda - Lima-Horta 66-62

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Lima-Horta (14-2) against thirteenth ranked Almeda (4-12) on Sunday night. Visiting Lima-Horta was defeated by Almeda in a tough game on the road 62-66. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Lima-Horta. It was a great evening for point guard Claudia Soriano (170-3) who led her team to a victory scoring 20 points. Marina Avinoa helped adding 10 points. The best for the losing side was guard Carmen Villalobos (185-1, college: Hartford) with 10 points and 6 rebounds and guard Vanesa Verbo (174-94) scored 12 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Almeda moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Aviles and Girona. Loser Lima-Horta keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Ardoi. Almeda will meet higher ranked Sant Adria (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lima-Horta will play against Girona and hope to secure a win.
