Regular Season Round 13: Chieti - RO Eurobasket 91-95

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Eurobasket RO (6-4) defeated on the road 9th ranked Chieti (3-6) 95-91 on Sunday. Chieti was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Roberto Gallinat (191-96, college: Pacific, agency: Players Group) stepped up and scored 22 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his fourteen free throws !!!) for the winners and American-Nigerian Jamal Olasewere (201-91, college: LIU Brooklyn) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side Lithuanian forward Paulius Sorokas (201-92, agency: Players Group) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and point guard Davide Meluzzi (180-98) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Eurobasket RO and four Chieti players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Eurobasket RO. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Cd'Orlando and Piacenza. Chieti lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with six games lost. Eurobasket RO will face league's second-placed Ferrara on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chieti will play against Pistoia (#6) and hope to win that game.
