Regular Season Round 7: Avellino - Cassino 61-94

There was an upset when 3rd placed Avellino (4-3) was outplayed at home by seventh ranked Cassino (3-4) 94-61 on Sunday. It was a great evening for the former international Federico Lestini (203-83) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Daniele Grilli (190-87) helped adding 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Cassino players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Luigi Brunetti (205-88) responded with 12 points and 6 rebounds and Greek-Brazilian forward Dimitris Sousa (198-94, college: UVA Wise) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cassino moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 9 other teams. Loser Avellino dropped to the second position with three games lost. Cassino will face Sant Antimo (#8) in Napoli in the next round. Avellino will play on the road against Formia (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
