Regular Season Round 7: Torrenova - Ragusa 71-57

There was a surprise result in Torrenovese where eleventh ranked Torrenova (3-4) beat higher ranked Ragusa (4-3) 71-57 on Sunday. They outrebounded Ragusa 49-29 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ragusa was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for power forward Mirko Gloria (203-95, agency: Players Group) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). Point guard Giorgio Galipo (175-99) helped adding 10 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. At the losing side forward Mattia Mastroianni (203-94) responded with 15 points and 8 rebounds and guard Giovanni Ianelli (190-0) scored 14 points. Torrenova moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 9 other teams. Newly promoted Ragusa dropped to the second position with three games lost. Torrenova will face Tessilform Bernareggio (#8) on the road in the next round. Ragusa will play against Bologna Basket (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
