Regular Season Round 4: Hottur - IR 87-105
Date: January 17, 2021
Very expected game when bottom-ranked Hottur (0-3) lost to sixth ranked IR (2-1) in Egilsstadir 87-105 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by IR. Hottur was better in fourth quarter 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. IR forced 19 Hottur turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Everage Richardson (191-85, college: Coastal) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. The former international forward Collin Pryor (198-90, college: Northern St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) contributed with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international center Sigurdur Thorsteinsson (204-88) replied with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American guard Michael Mallory (185-94, college: S.Connecticut) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists in the effort for Hottur. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. IR moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Njardvik. Newly promoted Hottur still closes the standings with three games lost. IR will face bottom-ranked Thor AK (#12) in Akureyri in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hottur will play on the road against KR in Reykjavik and hopes to get finally their first victory.
