Regular Season Round 4: Valur - KR 71-80

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Valur (1-2) lost to tenth ranked KR (1-2) in Reykjavik 71-80 on Monday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Strangely Valur outrebounded KR 48-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for American guard Ty Sabin (190-94, college: Ripon, agency: Duran International) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international point guard Jakob Sigurdarson (192-82, college: BSC) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Jon Stefansson (192-82) replied with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international forward Kristofer Acox (200-93, college: Furman) added 17 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Valur. KR left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Valur. KR will face Hottur (#11) in Egilsstadir in the next round where they are favorite.
