Balkan League top team - Bulgarian Academik Plovdiv (8-2) managed to deliver another win on Thursday. This time they beat fifth ranked Montenegrin Ibar Rozaje (3-6) 72-59. Academik Plovdiv had a 39-27 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a quality performance for Bosnian center Obrad Tomic (207-93, agency: PEPI SPORT) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. American power forward Tony Gugino (207-86, college: Hillsdale) accounted for 13 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. Academik Plovdiv's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian point guard Nemanja Simovic (192-95) came up with 19 points and 6 rebounds and guard Amin Hot (192-92) added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Ibar Rozaje in the defeat. Academik Plovdiv maintains first place with 8-2 record. Ibar Rozaje lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with TFT Skopje. Academik Plovdiv will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ibar Rozaje will play against TFT Skopje (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
