Regular Season Round 14: Gorizont - Tsmoki-Minsk 74-78

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Gorizont (13-1) at the home court on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by Tsmoki-Minsk (13-1) 78-74. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Gorizont. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-13. But Gorizont won third quarter 23-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American point guard Britney Jones (174-87, college: UAB, agency: LBM Management) scored 23 points and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Ala Murauskaya (187-85) chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The former international center Viktoryia Hasper (192-88) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and the former international center Anastasiya Veremeenko (194-87) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Five Gorizont players scored in double figures. Gorizont's coach Nataliya Trafimava rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tsmoki-Minsk have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion used an opportunity after Gorizont lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position which they share with defeated Gorizont. Tsmoki-Minsk is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Gomel (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gorizont's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Minsk BDU Tsmoki.
