Regular Season Round 21: KTP Basket - Pyrinto 91-93

The most exciting game of round 21 in the Korisliiga took place in Kotka. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 7th ranked KTP Basket (7-7) to second ranked Pyrinto (11-2) 93-91 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 29-21. But KTP Basket won second period 29-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pyrinto forced 19 KTP Basket turnovers. Strangely KTP Basket outrebounded Pyrinto 46-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Marcus Lewis (196-92, college: EKU) who scored 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Brady Skeens (201-95, college: Washburn) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Joe Burton (203-90, college: Oregon St., agency: GoEmpire Group) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points, 23 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Braxton Huggins (196-96, college: Fresno St., agency: One Motive Sports) added 26 points and 5 assists respectively. Four Pyrinto and five KTP Basket players scored in double figures. Pyrinto have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain second place with 11-2 record having four points less than leader Seagulls. KTP Basket at the other side keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Lahti. Pyrinto are looking forward to face Kouvot (#10) in Kouvola in the next round and are hoping to win another game. KTP Basket will play on the road against Kataja in Joensuu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
