Regular Season Round 16: Plasencia - Coruna 72-65

Very expected game when 10th ranked Coruna (5-13) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Plasencia (12-5) 72-65 on Saturday. Plasencia dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Coruna's 30. They outrebounded Coruna 40-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. Plasencia looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Stacia Robertson (188-92, college: High Point) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Cameroonian-American swingman Tia Weledji (178-96, college: Princeton) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Weledji is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Portuguese point guard Joana Ferreira (174-90) produced 18 points and 4 assists and forward Andrea Perez (178-93) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Coruna's coach Jorge Carreira let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Plasencia moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sant Adria. Coruna at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Plasencia will have a break next round. Coruna will play against Adareva (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
