Regular Season Round 15: Zentro Basket - Algeciras 78-79

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Madrid where 9th ranked Zentro Basket (5-5) was edged by tenth ranked Algeciras (5-8) 79-78 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Senegalese swingman Issa Thiam (208-96, college: Rutgers) who scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Nigerian center Bola Olaniyan (201-93, college: Alabama) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Pablo Perez (182-97) who recorded 15 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Guillermo Bastante (201-98) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Zentro Basket's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Algeciras maintains tenth place in Silver with 5-8 record. Zentro Basket at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Algeciras will face Moron (#14) in Morón de la Frontera in the next round.
