The game in Ponte Buggianese supposed to be also quite interesting. 5th ranked San Giovanni (9-3) played at the court of seventh ranked Ponte Bugg. (8-6). Ponte Bugg. smashed San Giovanni 82-61 on Saturday. Ponte Bugg. forced 20 San Giovanni turnovers and outrebounded them 39-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Power forward Carlotta Gianolla (184-97, college: KSU, agency: LBM Management) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Lithuanian power forward Laura Zelnyte (193-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Ponte Bugg. players scored in double figures. Croatian center Katarina Trehub (192-97) produced 6 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Serena Bona (183-89, agency: SLN) added 10 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ponte Bugg. moved-up to sixth place in A2. Loser San Giovanni dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Ponte Bugg. will face higher ranked Faenza (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. San Giovanni will play against La Spezia and hope to win that game.
