We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Castellon where 11th ranked Melilla (5-13) was crushed by twelfth ranked Castello (5-9) 83-62 on Saturday. Castello dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Melilla's 26. Castello forced 20 Melilla turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Swingman Virginia Saez (173-95) fired 25 points and 4 assists for the winners. American Peyton Whitted (190-95, college: Penn St.) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. Four Castello players scored in double figures. Castello's coach Jaume Tormo felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Brazilian guard Alana Goncalo (166-94) produced 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian power forward Bojana Stevanovic (180-96) added 19 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Castello have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eleventh place. Melilla lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. Castello will face Sevilla (#14) at home in the next round.
