Everything went according to plan when tenth ranked Varese (4-4) won against on the road 12th ranked Piadena (2-6) 66-52 on Saturday. Varese dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Piadena's 26. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Marco Allegretti (204-81) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Center Riccardo Antonelli (208-88) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Varese's coach Guido Saibene used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Thomas Tinsley (193-96) produced 11 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Riccardo Chinellato (198-0, agency: Players Group) added 3 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Varese moved-up to second place, which they share with 8 other teams. Piadena lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with six games lost.
