Regular Season Round 17: Zyrardow - AZS UW 81-83

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Zyrardow (8-8) was edged at home by ninth ranked AZS UW (7-8) 83-81 on Saturday. Strangely Zyrardow outrebounded AZS UW 53-37 including a 23-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Maksymilian Motel (194-0) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Power forward Dariusz Sarnacki (198-93) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Center Przemyslaw Gielo (195-95) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds and Marcin Uliczka (189-94) added 9 points and 15 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Zyrardow players scored in double figures. Zyrardow's coach Sochacki Piotr tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. AZS UW moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Zyrardow keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. AZS UW will face league's leader AZS UMCS in Lublin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
