Date: January 24, 2021
Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Wilki Morskie (13-10) outplayed bottom-ranked Polpharma (5-18) in Szczecin 101-74. Wilki Morskie forced 20 Polpharma turnovers and outrebounded them 41-22 including a 12-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Wilki Morskie players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Polpharma was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American forward Cleveland Melvin (203-91, college: DePaul) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Nigerian-American forward Michael Fakuade (201-89, college: UIS, agency: Slash Sports) helped adding 19 points and 4 steals. Four Wilki Morskie players scored in double figures. American guard Steven Haney (195-95, college: LMU) responded with 19 points and the other American import guard Trevon Allen (188, college: Idaho) scored 16 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Wilki Morskie. They maintain seventh place with 13-10 record. Polpharma at the other side stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. Wilki Morskie will play against higher ranked BM Slam Stal (#4) in Ostrow Wlkp. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Polpharma will play on the road against Legia (#3) in Warszawa and hopes to get back on the winning track.
