An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Azkoitia. Third ranked Rioja faced their biggest opponent Ardoi. Host Rioja (13-5) defeated guests from (15-3) 82-71. Rioja outrebounded Ardoi 39-28 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Morgan Green (170-96, college: UC Irvine, agency: Gamble Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 7 rebounds and Cameroonian forward Marguerite Effa (190-97, college: Nevada) who added 19 points and 10 rebounds during the contest (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Rioja players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Tamara Montero (168-94) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and Portuguese forward Josephine Filipe (177-95) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Ardoi's coach Jose Javier Unzue rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rioja have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-5 record having five points less than leader Barca CBS, which they share with Maresme. Loser Ardoi keeps the second place with three games lost. Rioja will meet league's leader Ferrol on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ardoi will play against Barakaldo and hope to secure a win.
