Regular Season Round 16: Azulejos - Maresme 57-78

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Maresme (13-5) smashed on the road 13th ranked Azulejos (4-12) 78-57 on Sunday. They outrebounded Azulejos 43-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. Azulejos was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Marta Arbizu (187-91) fired 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Mireia Vila (183-91, college: St.Joseph's) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Center Marina Vilella (185-92) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and Ana Hernando (-90) added 6 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Maresme have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-5 record having five points less than leader Barca CBS, which they share with Rioja. Azulejos lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh place with 12 games lost. Maresme's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Barcelona to the arena Segle XXI.
