Regular Season Round 10: Petah Tikva - Holon 79-88

The biggest surprise of round 10 in D1 was guest Holon's (5-3) road victory over much higher ranked Petah Tikva (4-4) 88-79 on Monday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Holon forced 23 Petah Tikva turnovers. Strangely Petah Tikva outrebounded Holon 48-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Point guard Chelsea Hopkins (173-90, college: SDSU, agency: Ron Sport) fired 22 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Forward Shae Kelley (185-91, college: Minnesota) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Holon players scored in double figures. Swingman Jocelyn Willoughby (183-98, college: Virginia, agency: LBM Management) produced a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of her twelve free throws !!!) and forward Kaila Charles (185-98, college: Maryland, agency: LBM Management) added 22 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Holon moved-up to second place, which they share with Ramat Gan and Ashdod. Petah Tikva lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Holon is looking forward to face league's second-placed Maccabi Ramat Gan in Ramat Hen in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Petah Tikva will play against Raanana and is hoping to win this game.
