Regular Season Round 8: KR - Keflavik 87-104

Undefeated leader Keflavik delivered the sixth consecutive win on Wednesday night. This time they beat bottom-ranked KR (0-7) 104-87 in Reykjavik. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 104-87. Keflavik forced 24 KR turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was Venezuelan Daniela Wallen (180-95, college: Okla City) who had a triple-double by scoring 27 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 steals. The former international swingman Emelia Gunnarsdottir (174-98) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds. Five Keflavik players scored in double figures. Finnish forward Annika Holopainen (185-93, college: ODU) produced a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 5 assists and center Eyglo Oskarsdottir (194-1) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Keflavik (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 6 victories in a row. KR at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Keflavik are looking forward to face Skallagrimur (#5) in Borganes in the next round. KR's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Reykjavik Valur.
