Regular Season Round 7: Valur - Hottur 88-81

Bottom-ranked Hottur is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to eighth ranked Valur (3-3) 88-81 on Thursday evening. Hottur was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 29-19 charge of Valur, which allowed them to win the game. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. It was a very good performance for international guard Pavel Ermolinskij (202-87) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Portuguese point guard Miguel Cardoso (188-93) contributed with 16 points and 5 assists for the winners. Valur's coach Finnur Stefansson used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Michael Mallory (185-94, college: S.Connecticut) answered with 19 points and 6 assists and Croatian swingman Dino Stipcic (196-89) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Hottur. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Valur moved-up to seventh place, which they share with KR. Newly promoted Hottur still closes the standings with six games lost. Valur will face Thor AK (#11) in Akureyri in the next round. Hottur will play at home against Njardvik and hopes to get finally their first victory.
