Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Ponzano (6-9) was defeated on the road by second ranked Scrivia (11-3) 76-67 on Saturday. Scrivia made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Ponzano turnovers. Naturalized Brazilian swingman Tayara Madonna (170-91) stepped up and scored 23 points and 4 assists for the winners and Croatian center Emilija Podrug (190-79) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Scrivia players scored in double figures. Guard Federica Iannucci (171-93) responded with 23 points and swingman Alessia Egwho (184-97) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Ponzano's coach Nicolas Zanco let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Scrivia maintains second place in A2 with 11-3 record having 2 victories less than leader Udine. Loser Ponzano dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. Scrivia will face Carugate (#14) in Corugate in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ponzano will play at home against Crema (#3) and hope to win that game.
