There was no surprise when 12th ranked Girona (4-14) was outplayed at home by fourth ranked Sant Adria (12-5) 86-52 on Saturday. Sant Adria dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Girona's 22. Sant Adria forced 25 Girona turnovers and outrebounded them 34-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. American forward Sarah Saba (179-96, college: Daemen) stepped up and scored 12 points for the winners and Gedna Capel (-2) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Vanessa Gonzalez (-94) responded with 8 points and 6 rebounds and forward Iho Lopez (188-97, college: FSU) scored 6 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sant Adria. They maintain fourth place with 12-5 record, which they share with Plasencia. Girona lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. Sant Adria will face Joventut (#6) in Badalona in the next round. Girona will play on the road against Andratx (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
