Everything went according to plan in Jerez de la Frontera where ninth ranked Torta del Casar (3-6) outleveled bottom-ranked Xerez (0-8) 73-54 on Saturday. Torta del Casar forced 22 Xerez turnovers. The best player for the winners was swingman Eduardo Recio (188-1) who scored 17 points. Latvian Karlis Helmanis (199-97) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Elian Malinarich (190-0) produced 12 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Uchechi Ogbonna (196-92, college: Daemen) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Torta del Casar moved-up to sixth place in Group D-B, which they share with Penarroya. Newly promoted Xerez still closes the standings with eight games lost. Torta del Casar will have a break next round. Xerez will play on the road against Penarroya (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
