Regular Season Round 8: Haukar - KR 87-103
Date: January 31, 2021
Rather expected game in Hafnarfjordur where 10th ranked Haukar (1-6) was defeated by seventh ranked KR (4-3) 103-87 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 16 points. Strangely Haukar outrebounded KR 40-25 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Ty Sabin (190-94, college: Ripon, agency: Duran International) who helped to win the game recording 39 points (!!!) and 5 assists and the former international point guard Matthias Sigurdarson (183-94, college: Columbus St.) who added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. KR moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Haukar lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. KR will face league's leader Keflavik at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Haukar will play against Tindastoll (#9) in Sauoarkrokur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
