Regular Season Round 9: Vigevano - Piadena 78-76

Thirteenth-ranked Piadena (2-7) was very close to win a game against second ranked Vigevano (8-1) on Sunday. Vigevano managed to secure only two-point victory 78-76. However their fans expected much easier game. Vigevano looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for point guard Andrea Mazzucchelli (188-94, agency: SLN) who led his team to a victory with 14 points and 7 assists. Guard Nicolo Gatti (196-91) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Vigevano players scored in double figures. Vigevano's coach Paolo Piazza used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Federico De Bettin (180-94) answered with 21 points and 5 assists and Latvian Kristofers Strautmanis (200-1) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Piadena. Vigevano keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Piacenza and San Miniato. Piadena lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the eighth place with seven games lost. Vigevano will face Fiorenzuola (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Piadena will play against Pavia (#11) and hope to win that game.
