Regular Season Round 13: Panathinaikos - Promitheas 78-80

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Panathinaikos (10-2) in Athens on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Promitheas (8-4) 80-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Panathinaikos. Panathinaikos was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 25-20 charge of Promitheas, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Jerian Grant (196-92, college: Notre Dame) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). His fellow American import power forward Jerai Grant (203-89, college: Clemson, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Promitheas players scored in double figures. The former international forward Konstantinos Mitoglou (210-96, college: Wake Forest, agency: Wasserman) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and the former international forward Ioannis Papapetrou (203-94, college: Texas) added 26 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) in the effort for Panathinaikos. Panathinaikos' coach Oded Kattash tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Promitheas moved-up to fourth place. Defending champion Panathinaikos still keeps top position with two games lost. Promitheas are looking forward to face Larissa BC (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panathinaikos will play against PAOK (#6) in Thessaloniki and is hoping to win this game.
