Regular Season Round 11: Strasbourg - Cholet 75-72

A very close game took place in Strasbourg between SIG Strasbourg and Cholet Basket. Eighth ranked SIG Strasbourg (6-4) got a very close home victory over 14th ranked Cholet Basket (3-6). SIG Strasbourg managed to escape with a 3-point win 75-72 on Monday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. SIG Strasbourg forced 22 Cholet Basket turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American guard DeAndre Lansdowne (188-89, college: Fort Lewis, agency: BeoBasket) who led the winners and scored 16 points. American-Ugandan swingman Ishmail Wainright (196-94, college: Baylor) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. Four SIG Strasbourg players scored in double figures. Power forward Yoan Makoundou (206-0) came up with 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and American Gerry Blakes (193-93, college: ASU) added 14 points respectively for Cholet Basket in the defeat. Cholet Basket's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. SIG Strasbourg have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place. Loser Cholet Basket keeps the fourteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Chalon. SIG Strasbourg will meet Chalons-Reims (#17) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Cholet Basket will play against Pau-Lacq-Orthez and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
