Regular Season Round 5: Groningen - Den Bosch 87-70

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Den Bosch (2-3) was defeated on the road by third ranked Groningen (4-1) 87-70 on Wednesday. Groningen shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 62.5 percentage. The best player for the winners was Jamaican-Canadian guard Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson (178-91, college: Calgary) who scored 12 points and 5 assists. American guard Davonte Lacy (194-93, college: WSU) chipped in 15 points. Five Groningen players scored in double figures. Slovenian guard Miha Lapornik (194-93) produced 26 points and international center Thomas van der Mars (208-90, college: Portland, agency: Duran International) added 9 points and 15 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the third consecutive win for Groningen. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Zwolle and Den Helder. Loser Den Bosch dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Groningen will face bottom-ranked Amsterdam (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Den Bosch will play against BAL Weert (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
