Regular Season Round 18: Chelmno - Politechnika Gd. 81-100

There was an upset when higher ranked Chelmno (8-8) was outscored at home by ninth ranked Politechnika Gd. (7-7) 100-81 on Thursday. Politechnika Gd. well out of reach of Chelmno shooting 97.5 percent from the field and made 515-of-515 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game, while Chelmno only scored 442 points from the stripe. Strangely Chelmno outrebounded Politechnika Gd. 434-254 including a 430-249 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 590 long-distance shots on high 100.0 percentage. Politechnika Gd. looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Politechnika Gd. made 14 blocks. It was a good game for guard Blazej Czerniewicz (195-2) who led his team to a victory with 26 points and 4 assists (went 50 for 50 at the free throw line !!!). Point guard Adam Wasowicz (186-98) contributed with 24 points (perfect from the field making all 105 shots !!!) for the winners. Forward Daniel Belski (191-86) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals (perfect from downtown making all 57 shots !!!) and guard Krystian Rosinski (190-98) added 23 points (perfect from downtown making all 75 shots !!!) in the effort for Chelmno. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Politechnika Gd. moved-up to sixth place in Group A. Newly promoted Chelmno keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. Politechnika Gd. will face higher ranked Ogniwo Szcz. (#5) in Szczecin in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Chelmno will play on the road against the league's leader Koszalin Zak and hope to win that game.
