Regular Season Round 22: Umea - Koping Stars 105-102

Important game to mention about took place in Umea. Eighth ranked Umea (5-14) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 7th ranked Koping Stars (8-13) 105-102 on Friday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Koping Stars won third quarter 26-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Umea made 22-of-25 charity shots (88.0 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Koping Stars' players. Koping Stars were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Cole Welle (201-96, college: California) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field). Spanish guard Guim Exposito (197-94, agency: Promo Sport ID) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds, 18 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Umea's coach Boris Balibrea allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Jonah Mathews (190-98, college: USC) replied with 36 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard CJ Jackson (185-96, college: Ohio St.) added 21 points and 7 assists in the effort for Koping Stars. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Umea maintains eighth position with 5-14 record. Koping Stars at the other side keep the seventh place with 13 games lost. Umea will play against league's leader Norrkoping Dolphins at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Koping Stars will play against KFUM Jamtland (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
