There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Real Murcia (4-9) lost to tenth ranked Real Canoe (2-9) in Madrid 64-69 on Friday. Real Canoe looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for center Jose Maria Gil (207-91, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Miguel Gonzalez (201-99) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Bosnian-Canadian guard Diego Kapelan (190-87, college: McNeese St., agency: BIG) answered with 13 points and Nigerian forward Jeffrey Solarin (193-92, college: Idaho St.) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Real Murcia. Real Murcia's coach Rafael Monclova tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Real Canoe maintains tenth place in Gold with 2-9 record. Newly promoted Real Murcia keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. Real Canoe will face higher ranked Basquet (#6) in Lleida in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
