Regular Season Round 14: Aris - Lavrio 89-94

Very expected game in Thessaloniki where 9th ranked Aris (4-9) was defeated by third ranked Lavrio (10-4) 94-89. It looked good early as Aris took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Lavrio had a 28-25 second period charge getting the lead and Aris was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 89-94. Aris was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Guinean-American guard Alpha Diallo (201-97, college: Providence) notched 23 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American guard Tyson Carter (193-98, college: MSU, agency: David Lee Services) supported him with 17 points and 5 assists. Even 21 points by American point guard Mario Chalmers (188-86, college: Kansas) did not help to save the game for Aris. Ioannis Kouzeloglou (204-95) added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Four Lavrio and five Aris players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Lavrio maintains third position with 10-4 record behind leader AEK. Aris at the other side dropped to the tenth place with nine games lost. Lavrio will play against Kolossos HH (#7) in Rodou in the next round. Aris will play on the road against the league's second-placed Panathinaikos in Athens and hopes to get back on the winning track.
