Regular Season Round 15: Puerto Sagunto - Valencia 2 64-100

Everything went according to plan in Gilet where first ranked Valencia-2 (12-1) outscored 4th placed Puerto Sagunto (7-6) 100-64 on Saturday. Valencia-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Puerto Sagunto's 32. Valencia-2 forced 21 Puerto Sagunto turnovers and outrebounded them 28-14 including 19 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Valencia-2 especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 62.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Puerto Sagunto's players. It was a great evening for Icelandic guard Hilmar Henningsson (193-0, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory scoring 43 points (!!!) (on 16-of-19 shooting from the field). Argentinian power forward Juan Hierrezuelo (203-0) helped adding 18 points and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was Portuguese power forward Bruno Fernando (200-96) with 16 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Carlos Sales (194-98, agency: BIG) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Valencia-2. They maintain first place in Group E-A with 12-1 record. Loser Puerto Sagunto keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Valencia-2's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Valencia Godella.
