Regular Season Round 21: SDUSHOR - Gomel 67-113

Bottom-ranked SDUSHOR is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 19th consecutive match to tenth ranked Gomel (3-15) 113-67. The game without a history. Gomel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to SDUSHOR's 28. Gomel forced 24 SDUSHOR turnovers and outrebounded them 58-40 including a 25-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by SDUSHOR's players. The best player for the winners was guard Timofey Verevkin (187-93) who scored 38 points (!!!) and 8 assists. Swingman Evgeniy Ribkin (194-96) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Rostislav Makavchik (197-2) who recorded 10 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Andrey Ozhgo (182-5) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively. Five Gomel and four SDUSHOR players scored in double figures. SDUSHOR's coach Eduard Kemen already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Gomel maintains tenth place with 3-15 record. SDUSHOR lost their nineteenth game in a row. They still close the standings. Gomel's next round opponent will be higher ranked Rubon (#5) in Vitebsk and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SDUSHOR's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Minsk Tsmoki II.
