Regular Season Round 21: Sonik Puntamika - Alkar 84-80

Very expected game in Zadar where 9th ranked Alkar (5-15) was defeated by fifth ranked Borik Puntamika (11-9) 84-80 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Borik Puntamika forced 23 Alkar turnovers. Strangely Alkar outrebounded Borik Puntamika 37-21 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Lovre Runjic (193-0) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and Tomislav Cvitkovic (206-98, agency: XL Basketball Agency) chipped in 22 points. The best for the losing side was American point guard Naba Echols (180, college: NMU) with 31 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Hasan Varence (198, college: Ohio Dominican, agency: Duran International) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Borik Puntamika maintains fifth place with 11-9 record. Alkar lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 15 games lost. Borik Puntamika will meet KK Vrijednosnice Osijek (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Alkar will play against H.Analitica and hope to secure a win.
